British Museum

The massive British Museum

The British Museum

Most people visit the British Museum to see the Rosetta Stone – in fact, just getting a glimpse can involve a lot of pushing and shoving

The Rosetta Stone

(much like trying to see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre). However, the British Museum has a lot of other noteworthy and interesting artifacts. Those not that interested in history may only need to have a quick walk through the museum (its free, so why not) while the history buffs in the family could spend a whole day.

Most of the collection is either Greek, Egyptian, Asian or Middle Eastern although there are objects from all over the world. Visit the British Museum website for a floor plan with highlights of each section.

The museum is open daily from 10am to 530pm, and is free to all visitors. There is also a couple fun gift stores (one for kids) and foot outlets on property.
